How the world's new renewable capacity is being added
A genuine part-to-whole composition: every gigawatt of new global renewable capacity was added somewhere, and this is the split between one country and everywhere else combined. This is the one place in this dataset where the numbers are shares of a single total; every other comparison here is an independent-category comparison and stays a bar chart on purpose.

How this data was collected
Every figure behind this dataset comes from an international energy agency, an industry research firm, or a national data source: the IEA's Renewables 2025, World Energy Investment 2025, and Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2025 reports, Wood Mackenzie's solar supply chain research, Ember's electricity generation data, and Norwegian national vehicle registration data. DT Linux's research process cross-references each figure against its original publication; this report does not involve DT Linux collecting energy data itself.
